Entrepreneur, former festival organiser and consultant, co-founder of Eventival.
Dawna started her career in the film industry as Press and then Guest Relations department coordinator at the Busan IFF in South Korea in 2001 where she spent two years, also working as Foreign Affairs officer at the BASFF in the same city. After internship at the Far East Film festival in Udine, she moved to Prague to pursue film studies at FAMU.
When a group of film and music industry personalities led by John Caulkins founded one of the world's first festivals of music films called MOFFOM in 2004, Dawna became its manager and programmer, and held the position until 2007 when she returned to Korea to study and work on the creation of a network of music film festivals, AMUSIFF. Her work for MOFFOM helped bring the festival to the attention of the international film industry, making it one of the most respected events of its kind, and an acknowledged inspiration for many other similarly oriented film festivals created since.
During her time in Prague, Dawna assisted with the international marketing and technical and user support for Datakal, and was a programmer for the Busan International Kid's Film Festival (BIKI). She spent nearly two years in France, first creating Eventival and then studing at INSEAD,, working both with Eventival and the Seoul branch of the branding agency Firefly Branding.
Dawna is Korean, studied psychology in Seoul, media studies in Montreal, film at FAMU in Prague, and business at INSEAD in Fontainebleau where she graduated with an MBA degree. She has lived in Canada, the Czech Republic and France, and is currently based in Seoul, South Korea.
