Tomáš PRÁŠEK
Entrepreneur, festival organiser, consultant, translator, writer, traveller, co-founder of companies Eventival s.r.o., Eventival Ltd. and DataKal s.r.o. and festivals EuroConnections and MOFFOM.
Tomas founded Eventival with Adrian Johnson and Dawna Cha in November 2008 after fifteen years working with film and music festivals, and a decade of running a successful film festival management company. He entered the film industry after translating from English and Italian, teaching English at the Assumption University in Bangkok, working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Presidential Office, writing and traveling. Following a year at the Prague IFF, Tomas built and ran Hospitality Department at the Karlovy Vary IFF for five years where he realized the upcoming need for film festival managament tools, and found one in the festival's inhouse database system. In 2000, he co-founded DataKal s.r.o., and in the next eight years brought the system of the same name to three dozen festivals around the world. In 2003-06, Tomas was Project Manager on the project aiming to improve the logistics at the Berlin International Film Festival (the Berlinale). Tomas co-founded EuroConnections and Music on Film - Film on Music (MOFFOM), is on the board of Music on Film, o.s. and the Czech-Thai Society, and served on the Cultural Grants Commission of the City of Prague. He has lectured and chaired panels related to film and film festival industry in New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Vilnius and Prague. Tomas has a law degree from Charles University, and studied cultural anthropology and philosophy at the University of Amsterdam.
